GENERAL INFORMATION

The Italian Embassy in Tokyo is organizing the:

Italy-Japan 2005 Workshop
The man and the robot: Italian and Japanese approaches

with the scientific and technical support of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa (Italy), and the Waseda University, Tokyo (Japan). The workshop will be held on September 7, 8 in Tokyo, Japan (see the detail page)

Following the successful Italy-Japan 2001 Workshop " HUMANOIDS - A Techno-Ontological Approach"and the Italy-Japan 2003 Workshop "Research on Humanoid, Service and Rescue Robots in Italy and Japan", the Italy-Japan 2005 Workshop is aimed at presenting a general overview of robotics in the two countries, involving the governments, universities, research centers, and industries. The main theme of the workshop will be the relationship between humans and robots, with a particular attention to the problem of the aging society, with a focus on technologies and services for the aging society.

The joint laboratory "RoboCasa", for research in Humanoid and Personal Robotics, of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and the Waseda University, will be presented as a successful initiative of Italy-Japan cooperation and as an opportunity for further collaborations between Japanese and Italian/European robotics research groups.

A selected number of invited speakers, both from Italy and Japan, will present recent research achievements in Japan and Italy and will animate round tables on international cooperation in research, education and technology transfer (see the program).
